I woke up one morning and decided to move to Los Angeles.
That’s the short answer.
I woke up one morning and realized I wasn’t happy with what I was doing. I hated my job. I was unhappy with my Master’s program. I was lost. Who isn’t? In the back of my mind I always knew I wanted to do something that involved conceptualizing stories and working with people to present those stories to an audience. Unfortunately, I never thought to take the risk to put those thoughts into action.
A friend of mine (Stephen) had been working in LA for almost two years in Hollywood at 21 Laps Entertainment (Shawn Levy’s Production Co.). One night in early December he offered an internship to me and the next day I quit my job. If it sounds like there was little thought to my decision, well, you’re right. I spent the next three weeks setting up my living situation and figuring out how I would get to LA. Luckily, I had another great friend (Armand) living in Glendale and he was generous enough to open his apartment up to me. With an intern position and an apartment secured I needed to figure out how I would get to California.
With little to no thought, I decided the only way to make this adventure even more memorable was to drive across the country. Driving cross-country is something I have alway wanted to do. I have always been intrigued by the concept of California since I was young. There is something incredibly romantic and American about making the lengthy treck through the U S of A. I’ve spent so little time exploring America and I realized that this might be the only time to do it.
The trip was planned in a little over a week and I was lucky enough to have two of the greatest people join me on my cross-country endeavor: Dave and Tommy. Tommy took the initiative to put together a great route to keep us on schedule and enable us to see as much as we possibly could. They both helped to keep me sane and actually follow through with this risky endeavor. (For those of you who know me, you know how I float from one idea to the next.)
We decided to leave on December 27, 2011 and arrive in LA on January 3, 2012.
That’s the extended answer.

It’s been a long time since I’ve updated this site.
(Sorry Mom).
I’m going to spend the next week reflecting on my cross-country trip. I’ll post some pictures and share my thoughts that will help give some perspective on my spontaneous decision to pack up and leave New York.
I’ve been settled in Los Angeles for the past two months and it’s about damn time I let you all know what exactly I’m doing out here.
Enjoy.
